Sean Carew was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended college at Duquesne University where he studied political science and business. When Sean left college in the early 1980’s he found work as an assistant in a municipal trading department of a local investment-banking firm. During this time Sean lived what most would consider a successful life with money, cars and status. But on the inside he was a man suffering with emptiness, anger, substance abuse and loneliness.
But that all changed in January of 1990 when a friend introduced him to the Lord Jesus Christ. This opportunity changed his life. By 1992 Sean went from investment banking to investing in people that most of society had given up on. You see, the Lord had given Sean the opportunity to work side-by-side with Him in the inner city. A place where the least, the last and the lost are found --A place where Jesus still is performing miracles.
After working at two missions in upstate New York, the Lord called Sean and his family to pioneer a mission in Providence, Rhode Island. Currently, Sean is the executive director of the Providence Rescue Mission, which is located in the west end of the city. There, on a nightly basis, he, his staff and volunteers from local churches share the love of the gospel in word and deed. The mission provides food, clothing, Christian counseling, safe shelter, a one year discipleship program and other essential services to those in need. Over the years, Sean has seen the Lord take many men and women that society had given up on and changed them into new creations. The Lord has changed them the same way he changed Sean.
Sean resides in West Warwick, Rhode Island with his wife Marbeth and their four children. If you would like to have Sean come and minister at your church, business, or organization please contact him at the mission.

Pastor Steve P. Gomes, has been the Assistant Director of the Providence Rescue Mission since 2001. He works directly with the men on our New Life Disciple program and ministers to the needs of the many poor and homeless who come to our doors daily.
Born and raised in the Rhode Island area. A man of compassion, Pastor Gomes surrendered his life to Christ at the mature age of thirty-four. After many years of service in the Kingdom as Armor Bearer, Deacon, Youth Leader and Elder, he acknowledged the undeniable call on his life to encourage inner city people to become more effective in communities, rather than being affected by it, through knowing the Love of Jesus Christ.
A devoted husband and father, he is married to the lovely Shontell Gomes who shares in his call to ministry. He and his wife are the proud parents of four beautiful daughters. They reside in East Providence, Rhode Island and both are serving God wholeheartedly.
Respected and loved by many, Pastor Gomes’ love for the Lord, enthusiasm and personality are character traits needed for the challenge to impact the City of Providence.
