In the Gospel of Luke chapter 15 Jesus tells the story of a young man who lost his way and left his father and family to go do his own thing. We read how horrible his life turned out because of this. In the end we see how his father was waiting to give him a second chance and how thankful the son was that his father never gave up on him! At the mission we have the privilege of seeing God give the lost that same chance every day. You see the mission is a place where God is waiting for the hopeless to come. A place where a person can come when everyone else has said we can’t help you anymore. A place a person can come when not only have they given up on themselves, but they believe that not even God can love them anymore. But, because of you when they come to the mission we are there to give them another chance! It may start with our chapel service followed by a hot meal and a safe nights shelter. It could be a new start through our discipleship program. Or it may be a new set of teeth from our dental ministry.
As we approach Thanksgiving I just want to say thank you for helping us give second chances to those who have given up!
